The Bay of Silence and that of the Fables, the cycle paths, playgrounds and trains to the Cinque Terre: all you need to know for a holiday in Sestri Levante with the whole family

A holiday in Sestri Levante with children is what you need if you are looking for a town with all the services, parks, family-friendly beaches and possibilities for excursions and outings.

Sestri Levante is a town with two faces, at least that’s how it is told in that territory of beaches and hills that climb from the sea to the sky which is the Gulf of Tigullio. Two Sestri faces and two Sestresi faces.
The truth is that Sestri is a town of great charm, a tongue of land embraced by the sea. With its two bays: the Bay of Silence and that of the Fables. And Sestri seems just out of a fairytale, with its narrow caruggi full of shops, that you just turn a corner and you find yourself with your feet in the sand and eyes focused on the show that gives the Bay of Silence. Small, sandy, wedged between the rocks and the Abbazia dell’Annunziata.
Go back on your steps and, after a couple of minutes, here is the Baia delle Favole, which embraces the entire coast of Sestri Levante and overlooks the Gulf of Tigullio. A long tongue of sandy beaches, with bathing facilities, free beaches equipped kiosks and all kinds of places.
Sestri Levante welcomes tourists with open arms, the children then pamper them with many parks, structures that organize events dedicated to them and a small historic center to be explored on foot and waiting to be discovered.

The sea of Sestri Levante: Baia del Silenzio and Baia delle Favole

The sea of Sestri Levante is double with its Baia del Silenzio and the Baia delle Favole. To divide the caruggi.
The Bay of Silence faces east, is a small sandy bay, which almost completely closes on itself. Clear sand, sandy bottoms that degrade rather slowly, and on the side to the east, the rocks to be explored with fins, mask and snorkel. In the west of the bay, on the other hand, there is a beach and, in closing, the Convent of the Annunciation where events and events are often organized. A few years ago, on that side, there is a statue of a fisherman on the rocks: looking among the rocks that emerge from the water you will see him intent on collecting nets. Every year Sestri Levante hosts the Andersen Festival, known for the numerous shows and to be connected to the relative prize, also for this the statue was created that recalls that of the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen. The statue was created by Leonardo Lusting, an artist of German origin born in Santa Margherita. Il Pescatorello is certainly one of the most interesting attractions of the bay with children.

We recommend going to the beach as early as early in the morning because it is difficult to find a free place in Baia del Silenzio during the summer

It’s worth having an aperitif in the Bay of Silence with the kids, they can spend some time playing on the shoreline while mom and dad are sipping something in one of the many bars overlooking the bay.
