On holiday in the Marche region with children

Spending a holiday in the Marche with children means discovering a land where the sea meets the mountains, and where every day brings a new adventure. From hotels to farmhouses, villages to campsites, there’s no shortage of family-friendly places to stay.
And when it comes to experiences, there are countless things to do in the Marche with children.

The sea of the Marche

The sea of the Marche is perfect for a family holiday. Along its coast you’ll find welcoming seaside resorts where children can play safely and parents can relax.
No fewer than 15 beaches in the Marche have been awarded the Blue Flag, placing the region fourth in Italy for clean waters: Portonovo, Numana, Senigallia, Sirolo, Cupra Marittima, Grottammare, San Benedetto del Tronto, Fermo, Pedaso, Civitanova Marche, Potenza Picena, Fano, Gabicce Mare, Mandolfo, and Pesaro.
Many beaches also boast the Green Flag, a recognition by Italian pediatricians for services dedicated to children. Among them are Civitanova Marche, Fano (North – Sassonia – Torrette/Marotta), Gabicce Mare, Grottammare, Pesaro, Porto Recanati, Porto San Giorgio, Numana Alta – Bassa Marcelli Nord, San Benedetto del Tronto, Senigallia, and Sirolo.
With such a variety of destinations, the Marche coastline welcomes families with hotels, resorts, and plenty of child-friendly facilities.

Charming towns and villages

A holiday in the Marche with children is also a journey through art, history, and stories that fascinate young and old alike.
Among its treasures are UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Urbino, with the Albornoz Fortress. Older children will love exploring the underground passages of the Ducal Palace, while a visit to Raphael’s birthplace and a stroll through the city’s elegant palaces are unforgettable for everyone. Not far away lies Pesaro, the lively hometown of composer Rossini.
And then there is Recanati, forever linked to the poet Giacomo Leopardi. Families can visit his home, climb the celebrated Hill of Infinity, and step into Silvia’s house. Whether you know his works or not, these places inspire a sense of poetry and wonder.

Hills and mountains

Away from the coast, the hills and mountains of the Marche reveal breathtaking landscapes and quiet corners where nature reigns.
The Frasassi Caves are a must-see during a family holiday in the Marche. The largest underground complex in Europe, they are simply magical.
With children, it’s best to visit when it’s less crowded, bringing a baby carrier or backpack for little ones. Even in summer, don’t forget a jumper – inside, the cool air adds to the sense of adventure.
